Job Summary
The Electrical & Testing Engineer is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, testing, commissioning, and technical support of air compressor electrical and control systems within the Remanufacturing Technological Center (RTC). This role plays a critical part in ensuring overhauled compressors and components meet OEM specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Inspection, Repair & Overhaul
- Perform detailed inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of electrical systems associated with industrial air compressors.
- Diagnose faults involving motors, control panels, PLC systems, VFD/VSD drives, sensors, instrumentation, and protection devices.
- Review incoming equipment condition and develop electrical repair recommendations.
- Execute repair activities in accordance with OEM procedures, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Support reliability improvement initiatives through failure analysis and corrective actions.
Testing & Commissioning
- Develop and execute electrical testing procedures for standard and non-standard customer requirements.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), functional testing, performance verification, and final quality inspections.
- Analyze testing results and provide technical recommendations to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues identified during testing activities.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, testing documentation, and failure investigation reports.
Technical Support & Engineering Collaboration
- Act as the primary technical interface between the RTC and Engineering Team for electrical and testing-related matters.
- Participate in regular engineering discussions, line meetings, and technical reviews with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate troubleshooting activities and technical investigations for complex compressor issues.
- Escalate technical concerns and collaborate with global engineering resources to develop solutions.
- Support implementation of engineering changes, product improvements, and testing protocols.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all repair and testing activities comply with company quality standards, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Follow established electrical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Participate in safety assessments, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate repair records, testing reports, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, testing, overhaul, or repair operations.
- Experience with air compressors, rotating equipment, industrial motors, drives, and control systems is highly preferred.
- Experience conducting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities in an industrial environment.
- Experience supporting non-standard testing requirements and technical problem-solving is an advantage.
- Authorized to perform electrical testing and commissioning activities in accordance with local statutory requirements.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial electrical systems.
- Motor control and protection systems.
- PLC and HMI systems.
- VFD/VSD drives.
- Instrumentation and process control systems.
- Compressor control systems and sequencers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, and technical documentation.
- Skilled in fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
Language Requirements
- Due to the frequent collaboration with China Engineering Teams to address non-standard testing requirements, technical troubleshooting, and issue resolution, candidates must possess bilingual communication skills in English and Mandarin and be comfortable participating in regular cross-border engineering discussions and meetings.
- Capable of participating in technical meetings, preparing reports, and interpreting engineering documents in both languages.
