Job Summary
Perform safe and accurate venipuncture to collect blood specimens, ensuring patient safety and specimen integrity in a rehabilitative care setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture to collect blood specimens safely, accurately, and efficiently from patients
- Verify patient identity to ensure correct specimen labeling and maintain specimen integrity
- Dispatch specimens to the laboratory promptly while following infection-control and patient-safety protocols
- Monitor and maintain availability, expiry, and condition of phlebotomy equipment and consumables
- Communicate empathetically and patiently with patients to provide a positive experience during specimen collection
- Work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team to meet operational demands
- Organize work tasks meticulously to handle high specimen volumes while maintaining composure and resilience
Required Competencies and Qualifications
- Recognised certification in Phlebotomy, or a Certificate in Nursing with documented phlebotomy competency
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience as a phlebotomist
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage patients with empathy and patience
- Highly organised and meticulous work habits
- Ability to remain resilient and composed under high-volume conditions
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 1 pm
