The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The IEA seek opportunities to work with an increasing number of non-members of growing importance to the world economy. The Agency aims to foster the contribution of the energy sector to economic development and environmental sustainability.
The IEA seeks to recruit Senior Analysts for its Regional Cooperation Centre in Singapore (“the Centre”), The Centre extends the IEA’s engagement and influence in Southeast Asia and beyond. Southeast Asia is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing regions in the world, and a key driver of global energy demand. The region heavily influences the global energy landscape in the decades to come, including prospects for sustaining energy security and meeting climate targets.
In close collaboration with staff in IEA Headquarters in Paris, the Centre undertakes substantive work across several key workstreams, including: bilateral engagement with countries in the region; regional training and capacity building programmes; the scale-up of renewables and regional power trade; the deployment of energy technologies, innovation and secure supply chains; and overcoming region-specific clean energy investment challenges.
The Senior Energy Analysts will lead the analysis of energy trends and policies to help Southeast Asian countries in their efforts to scale up renewable energy and develop secure, affordable and highly decarbonized power sectors, on energy Technology, Innovation and secure supply chains across the energy sector in the Southeast Asia region and oil and gas security.
The successful candidates will have a strong analytical background related to electricity policy, energy technology and innovation, oil and gas security, and a proven track-record in drafting reports and briefings under tight timelines, translating complex technical questions into accessible messages to non-expert audiences and high-level decision-makers.
They will undertake the substantive work of the Centre for power and system integration, under the guidance and management of the Head of the Centre and in close collaboration with teams across the Agency based in Paris.

Main Responsibilities
Energy Analysis
Lead the quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy trends and policies at the regional and country level, including analysis and policy recommendations to help Southeast Asian countries in their efforts to scale up renewable energy and develop secure, affordable and sustainable power sectors; scale up energy technology supply chains including innovation, R&D and critical minerals. Supervise and coordinate the preparation of relevant reports and work with other members of various teams in the IEA active on electricity policy to develop policy recommendations for the successful transformation to a low-carbon power and energy system and teams in the IEA active on energy technology and innovation policy for secure and resilient supply chains.Be responsible for the analysis of technical, economic and institutional aspects in the relevant area of work of relevance including enhancing power system flexibility via uptake of innovative flexible resources in supply, demand, storage, grid assets, digitalization related services and cross border power trade,, role of oil and gas, nuclear and energy technology supply chains and role of AI.Liaison and Outreach
Collaborate with other divisions in the Agency, providing analysis on policy development, system integration of variable renewable energy, electricity security, cross-border power trade, power market design, energy technology and supply chains, oil, gas and coal markets and role of nuclear. Establish working relations with stakeholders from policy makers, regulators, utilities and international organizations in Southeast Asia, including ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Centre for Energy, ADB and World Bank, development partners and academic/think tanks.Promote the work of the Agency externally to a wide range of audiences through leading and organising capacity building/training events, participation in workshops, making presentations and holding bilateral meetings.Qualifications

Academic Background
An advanced university degree(s) in a relevant discipline (e.g. economics, engineering, mathematics or other).Professional Background
At least 8 years’ experience in energy market design, power sector and policy development, including applied economic and quantitative technology analysis in an energy context, with a good understanding of the technical, economic, regulatory and institutional issues shaping the challenges and opportunities of transforming power systems to integrate large amounts of wind and solar power, and proven drafting skills for non-expert audiences.Proven experience with market design, policies that enable scaling-up and integration of renewable energy and assessment of best practices to enable decarbonisation of the power sector either from working in government, research organization or consultancy. A good appreciation of the impact of scaling up variable renewable energy and/or experience regarding flexibility of the power system and long-term resource adequacy would be a strong advantage.Excellent understanding of the energy sector (production of energy, transformation, end-uses, energy policy priorities and challenges) and its supply chains. Demonstrated expertise in the power sector, including operations and planning would be an asset.Proven experience in engaging policy makers and other energy system stakeholders in emerging economies. Experience in and knowledge of Southeast Asia would be a strong advantage.Extensive experience in organizing stakeholder engagement on energy issues would be an asset.Excellent command of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel (including macros and pivot tables)Knowledge of SQL and scripting languages such as Python or R, as well as power system modeling, including dispatch cost modelling software (e.g. Plexos) would be an asset.Core Competencies

Depending on level of experience, monthly salary starts from 9,783 EUR plus allowances based on eligibility.
