Workplace Interior Project Designer (Associate to Mid-level) - Singapore

Paperspace is hiring! We are looking for an experienced Workplace Interior Project Designer to join our Singapore design team. An exciting opportunity to be a part of Paperspace's dynamic and creative design team! Based in Singapore, the Project Designer's primary role is to support the project process from design development to delivery and completion, consistent with the project's program and budget. This person is able to work independently in team environments to manage multiple projects, supporting and/or leading projects with aspects of design development to project management and overseeing project execution. The role also includes collaborating with regional design teams, where required.

Roles & Responsibilities

A. Overview of the Role:

1. General Interior Design Tasks

• Support the Design Team where necessary to understand client's business needs, branding, and workspace functionality, to define service offerings, scope of works and contract framework.
• Understand and define project requirements and schedule during the “brief”. Interpret and translate customer needs into plans.
• Support the Studio Lead and Senior Designer where required in space planning and design development from design concept and mood boards, optimising space utilisation and productivity.
• Where necessary, support Design Team in preparing, coordinating and completing designs, presentations, and creating scheme board
• Visit job sites to analyse space availability, design needs and the purpose of the space
• Manage & lead in the Design Development and Tender process
• Research, evaluate, and conduct product sourcing to select furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), materials and finishes; Update and maintain resource library;
• Maintain supplier knowledge on cost-effective and sustainable range of materials, furniture, and finishes.
• Work with the Technical team to prepare construction document packages, where required;
• Research and follow industry changes, evolutions and best practises.
• Support, liaise and work with Paperspace regional teams on projects and pitches.

2. Design Execution

• Work with the QS or Project manager to oversee overall project budget to ensure adherence
• Work with the appointed Project Manager to ensure smooth execution from design standpoint at construction phase.
• Where necessary, coordinate with contractors, engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders for design-related site matters.

3. Proposals and Pitching

• Where required, support the design team in design proposals and pitches - RFP proposal response submissions, preparation of design and project requirements for RFP submissions and presentations for proposal submission and/or pitching presentations.

4. Continuous Performance & Quality Improvements

• Design quality: Working closely with the Design & Technical team in particular, to develop strategies to elevate design quality, client engagement and positive user experiences.
• Performance benchmarks: Support the processes and quality standards to ensure that we are creating performance benchmarks e.g. listening to our customers, creating meaningful client relationships that may open up to future potential opportunities and inspiring design teams.

Qualifications and Desirable Skills:

The successful candidate is a creative and talented individual with the following qualifications and skills:

Technical Skills

• Design Software: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.
• Workplace Planning: Expertise in office layouts, ergonomics, and workspace optimization.

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving: Ability to address design, budget, and execution challenges proactively.
• Communication & Negotiation: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and vendors.
• Attention to Detail: Precision in design specifications, budgeting, and compliance monitoring.
• Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Task Prioritisation: Able to work efficiently and prioritize tasks, multi-task when necessary, meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
• Team collaboration: Able to work well both independently and collaborate with a team
• A positive energy, drive and interest to motivate the team creatively and resilience to overcome any challenge
• Adaptable and flexible in different environments
• Has a variety of other interests outside of work
• Good written English proficiency is a plus

Qualifications:

Bachelor (or equivalent) or a higher degree in r Interior Design from an accredited school or college.

• 4 - 5+ years' experience in workplace interior design, with project coordination experience.
• Proven working experience as a Project Designer and with the ability to support and/or lead a project in commercial workplace interior design projects.
• Possess end to end experiences particularly in design management, project coordination, space planning, project planning and budgeting, FF&E specifications, oversight of construction drawing production, project execution liaising and manager partners, consultants and suppliers.
