Job Description - Industry/ Organization Type: Waste Management & Materials Recovery
- Position Title: R&D Engineer (Waste & Process Development)
- Working Location: Tuas (Company transportation provided)
- Working Hours: 5 days (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Salary Package: Basic Salary + AWS + Retention Bonus + Incentive + Transport Allowance
- Duration: Permanent Role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and optimize waste treatment, handling, and recovery processes to ensure technical feasibility, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to understand waste sources, identify opportunities, support project development, and execute pilot trials.
- Identify, assess, and implement new technologies and solutions, including working with external partners such as universities, research institutes, and technology providers.
- Establish and enhance laboratory capabilities, including process development and analytical methods to support R&D and operational needs.
- Drive continuous improvement by optimizing existing processes and introducing alternative treatment methods where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, documentation standards, and safety, health, and environmental requirements while maintaining proper laboratory practices.
- Support the development of handling solutions for complex or high-value waste streams and contribute to business growth through new initiatives and facility planning.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies and proactively introduce relevant innovations.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

- PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as specialty chemicals, oil & gas, or water treatment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
- Good analytical and communication skills
- Ability to perform visual inspection and distinguish colour variations in laboratory or process work
