Retail Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Retail Manager to join our retail team. The Retail Manager will take ownership of the overall store performance, leading the team to deliver exceptional customer service, achieve sales targets, maintain strong inventory controls and uphold Giordano's global retailing standards.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Lead by example on the selling floor and ensure every customer receives warm, attentive and knowledgeable service.
• Create a customer-first culture where the team listens, understands customer needs and confidently recommends the right products.
• Build in-depth product knowledge across fabrics, fits, functionality, construction, care and styling and ensure this knowledge is consistently demonstrated by the team.
• Deliver confident styling and product recommendations that improve the customer experience and encourage outfit building and cross-selling.
• Build lasting customer relationships through personalized service, customer recognition and Giordano membership.
• Actively capture customer feedback and translate insights into improvements in service, product and store execution.

Sales Performance

• Take ownership of store sales, profitability and achievement of agreed business targets.
• Monitor and improve key retail KPIs including traffic, conversion, ATV, UPT, ASP and gross margin.
• Review daily and weekly performance, identify opportunities and translate insights into clear actions for the team.
• Understand best sellers, slow movers, newness and customer demand and actively drive commercial opportunities.
• Implement and manage the store incentive programme, ensuring targets are understood, performance is visible and incentives reinforce the right selling behaviors.
• Set clear individual and team targets and maintain a strong culture of accountability for results.

Inventory Management

• Maintain strong product availability and inventory levels to maximize selling opportunities.
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of best sellers, slow movers, customer requests and missed sales opportunities.
• Manage replenishment, transfers, ageing stock and stock accuracy proactively in close collaboration with the Singapore buying team.
• Provide timely product and customer insights to merchandising and planning teams.
• Maintain strong inventory controls and minimize stock loss and shrinkage.

Visual Merchandising

• Deliver Giordano's brand identity consistently through strong visual presentation, product storytelling and store standards.
• Ensure merchandising makes products easy for customers to discover, understand, coordinate and purchase.
• Maintain exceptional standards across product presentation, fitting rooms, replenishment and overall store environment.
• Use sales performance, customer behaviours and inventory information to make commercially appropriate merchandising adjustments.
• Ensure new products, key stories and hero products are presented effectively and understood by the entire team.

People Development

• Coach continuously on the selling floor through observation, real-time feedback, demonstration and follow-up.
• Develop the team's capabilities in customer service, selling, product knowledge and styling.
• Conduct regular product and selling-skills training and ensure learning translates into improved customer interactions.
• Recruit and onboard people with the attitude, energy and customer orientation required to represent Giordano.
• Set clear expectations and provide frequent, constructive and actionable performance feedback.
• Use KPIs and incentive performance as tools for coaching rather than simply measuring results.
• Recognize strong performance and address performance gaps quickly and constructively.
• Identify high-potential employees and actively develop future supervisors and Store Managers.

Administration & Store Operations

• Plan manpower and rosters according to customer traffic, trading patterns and business requirements.
• Manage staff productivity and store expenses within agreed budgets.
• Maintain accurate cash management, stock controls, opening and closing procedures and store administration.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, safety requirements and audit standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely reporting and communicate key opportunities, risks and actions to Retail Management.
• Take ownership of store issues and ensure timely and effective resolution.

Own the store checklist to ensure all global retailing standards are met and lead the daily stand up with the team

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Sales & Marketing, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in apparel industry.
• Proven experience in managing retail stores, sales teams and overall sales performance.
• Ability to analyze sales and inventory data and develop appropriate action plans.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity with responsibility for team development and performance.
• Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills to work effectively with Sales, Buying, Marketing, HR and other departments.
• Strong commercial awareness with a customer-focused and results-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to work retail hours, weekends and public holidays
