We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Asset Finance (Shipping) practice in Singapore. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team on a broad range of ship finance and offshore transactions, working closely with fee earners across the practice.
The Role
- Drafting and preparing finance documents, corporate authorisations, legal opinions and other ancillary financing documents.
- Registering and deregistering charges with the relevant registries.
- Liaising with clients, foreign counsels, flag state registries and other relevant stakeholders.
- Proof-reading, formatting and cross-checking documents for accuracy and consistency.
- Checking and preparing conditions precedent reports and closing checklists.
- Compiling and organising transaction bibles.
- Assisting with the consolidation and updating of know-how materials, precedent databases and legal research.
Skills and Experience Required
- Prior experience as a paralegal or legal executive in an asset finance, shipping or banking and finance practice within a law firm is required.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, to facilitate communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and counterparties.
- Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite and competence in legal research tools.
- Good academic record.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage a demanding workload with competing deadlines.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the initiative to take ownership of tasks.
- Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to a wide variety of assignments
