Quantity Surveyor

Job Description & Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Prepare quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BQ), cost estimates and tender pricing for civil engineering and construction projects.
• Source, evaluate and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
• Prepare and coordinate tender submissions, including pricing, quotations and supporting documentation.
• Review tender requirements, drawings, specifications and contractual conditions to identify cost implications and potential risks.
• Prepare subcontractor packages and administer the award of subcontract works.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager, site team, suppliers and subcontractors on procurement and purchasing of construction materials.
• Conduct site measurements and prepare monthly progress claims for submission to the Consultant / Client.
• Identify, evaluate and submit claims for Variation Orders (VO), including supporting measurements, quotations and cost breakdowns.
• Liaise with Consultants, Clients and Developers on progress claims, variation works, contractual matters and final accounts.
• Review, evaluate and certify subcontractors' progress claims and variation submissions.
• Monitor project costs, commitments and expenditure to ensure that projects remain within the approved budget.
• Review and advise the Project Manager on the cost impact of changes in project specifications, scope and construction requirements.
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, tender conditions and relevant project documentation.
• Assist in the preparation and negotiation of final accounts with Clients, Consultants and subcontractors.
• Identify and resolve contractual, commercial and costing issues arising during the course of the project.
• Maintain proper records of project costs, measurements, claims, variations, subcontractor accounts and other commercial documentation.
• Requirements:
• Diploma / Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2-5 years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience in the construction or civil engineering industry.
• Experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, road works, drainage, utilities or underground services will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of tendering, costing, measurement, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.
• Familiar with construction contracts and commercial administration.
• Good negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
• Able to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with Project Managers, Consultants, Clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office knowledge of AutoCAD/ measurement or QS-related software will be an advantage.
• Mandarin-speaking candidates will be an added advantage for communication with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Fresh graduates with a relevant Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering qualification may also be considered.
