Role
You will play an important role within Clermont’s head office, responsible for writing about our industry-leading operating companies. This broad role encompasses writing Annual Reports, company heritage stories, articles for our biannual in-house company magazine, op-eds, and marketing materials including company websites and corporate profiles. You will work closely with the Clermont Chairman and senior managers both in Clermont and at our operating companies..

Responsibilities

We believe that writing about our companies unlocks insights that shape our governance and strategy. The Writer/Senior Writer is a critical position in our company. Their work will shape the future direction of our businesses.

There are two aspects to the role of Writer/Senior Writer, writing internally and externally. Internal writing focuses on examining company performance, uncovering and recording lessons, and building culture and identity through collaterals distributed to staff. Internal writing includes:

Annual Reports for Clermont and our privately held Opcos, developed directly with the company CEOs, investment leads, and Clermont’s Chairman
Annual letters on behalf of an Opco Chairman or CEO
Heritage documents that record our lessons
Story Books that provide a journalistic history of the company to educate and inspire staff
Internal playbooks and manuals that contribute to the development of our proprietary business management system
Stories for our in-house magazine and intranet

External writing builds our companies into passion brands through the development of commercially focused collaterals. These communicate the company’s identity to others as well as highlighting the unique attractions of our products and services. External writing includes

Company websites
Corporate profiles
Op-eds
Product factsheets
The role would suit an energetic and professional writer or journalist with strong analytical ability, exceptional writing skills, and excellent editorial judgement. Suitable candidates will be comfortable working with executives and thought leaders across a variety of industries and cultures, capable of developing compelling narratives and capturing tone and voice with ease. They will be able to work at speed and under tight deadlines.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following traits:

Relevant degree from an internationally recognised university
Experience in and around a busy writing environment (a newsroom, think tank, consultancy, or communications agency)
Flexibility to adapt writing to requirements. Output for this role will range from journalistic “features-style” storytelling to investment-style corporate analysis
Strong presentation skills, including experience working with high-level stakeholders
First-rate research skills with the capacity to understand our companies quickly and to distil complex ideas into clear and compelling narratives
Humility, willing accept guidance and feedback and remain unfazed by high standards

Administrative Details

Start date: Immediate preferred

Compensation: Competitive base salary

Benefits: Medical insurance; 21 days annual leave

Education: University degree

Experience: 5-7 years of business journalism or content creation experience

Languages: Excellent command of English (written and spoken)

Reporting: Dual reporting. Direct report to the Chief Purpose Officer and dotted to the Editor

Travel: Based in Singapore. Regular international travel may be required
