L2 Application Support Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for motivated and technically strong Application Support Engineers to support business-critical enterprise applications in a high-availability environment. You will be responsible for monitoring production systems, resolving incidents, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of mission-critical applications.
This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy troubleshooting complex technical issues, working with cross-functional teams, and supporting large-scale Java-based applications.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Level 2 application support for production environments.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within agreed service levels.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend preventive measures.
Monitor production applications and ensure system availability.
Write and optimize SQL queries for troubleshooting, reporting, and data validation.
Analyse application logs and identify performance bottlenecks.
Coordinate with development, infrastructure, database, and business teams during incident resolution.
Support deployment activities, rollback procedures, and production releases.
Monitor and restart batch jobs where required.
Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
Prepare operational reports and participate in service review meetings.
Ensure compliance with operational and security standards.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Java (Core Java)
Experience with Spring Boot and Microservices
SQL query writing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
Hibernate ORM
REST APIs and API troubleshooting
Exception handling and debugging
Basic understanding of Kafka or messaging platforms

Jenkins
OpenShift or Kubernetes
MariaDB or other relational databases
Git or other version control tools

Independently resolve production incidents.
Perform SQL analysis and troubleshooting.
Support deployment and rollback activities.
Participate in root cause analysis.
Collaborate with multiple technical teams.
Senior Application Support Engineer (6 to 9 Years)
Lead complex production incident resolution.
Perform advanced debugging of Java applications.
Drive RCA and continuous service improvements.
Mentor junior support engineers.
Participate in service governance and operational reviews.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production support environment.
Good documentation and reporting skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
