Head of Market Making

The client is a leading global, multi-asset trading platform, serving millions of clients worldwide with close, strategic relationships with top-tier crypto exchanges. With 15+ years of track record, the firm is now looking to establish their market making and prop trading desk, taking advantage of their internal ecosystem and partner trading venues for preferential trading conditions.
They are architecting an institutional-grade liquidity ecosystem designed to dominate across diverse asset classes, including crypto perpetuals, FX, equities, and commodities. The role will be based in Singapore to work with business leaders and founders, and we are open to relocating stellar candidates.
We are looking for a Head of Market Making to spearhead this initiative. This isn't just a management role; it's a founding opportunity to bridge the gap between high-frequency engineering and sophisticated quantitative strategy. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our trading business from initial codebase to global PnL.
Your Mandate
- Strategic Architecture: Build and scale a world-class market-making operation focused on perpetual swaps and cross-asset liquidity.
- Performance Ownership: Assume full accountability for desk PnL, inventory management, and execution efficiency.
- System Design: Direct the development of proprietary quoting engines, hedging logic, and low-latency connectivity.
- Alpha Generation: Refine strategies involving spread capture, volatility modeling, and funding-rate arbitrage.
- Leadership: Recruit and mentor an elite team of quantitative researchers, DevOps engineers, and risk managers.
- Partnerships: Navigate and strengthen relationships with major institutional venues and liquidity providers.
Candidate Profile
- Direct Experience: A minimum of 8–10+ years in live market making, especially on perpetual swaps/futures.
- Verified Success: A demonstrable history of managing profitable trading strategies through various market cycles.
- Technical Mastery: Deep fluency in funding dynamics, liquidation mechanics, and inventory skew optimization.
- Engineering Depth: You understand the 'why' behind market data pipelines, API latency, and system failover protocols. You prefer building from scratch over maintaining legacy systems.
- Crisis Management: The ability to maintain operational excellence and decisive leadership during extreme market volatility.
- Linguistic Versatility: Professional fluency in both English and Chinese is essential for seamless collaboration with our core stakeholders.
