Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain MariaDB/MySQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability.
- Configure and administer advanced setups, including Master-Slave replication, Multi-Master replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Set up and provision MariaDB/MySQL instances for production, UAT, and development environments.
- Perform database backups, point-in-time recovery, and other routine maintenance tasks.
- Optimize and fine-tune SQL statements for better performance.
- Write and maintain Linux shell scripts for database automation and maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend architecture/design improvements for optimal database performance.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and specifications.
- Monitor and resolve issues to ensure uninterrupted database services.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and implement de-facto standards in MariaDB/MySQL management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Computer Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a MariaDB/MySQL Database Administrator in the banking or financial sector.
- Solid understanding of MySQL/MariaDB storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM.
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries and optimizing database performance.
- Solid experience in Linux operating systems (such as RedHat) and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of database replication, high availability, and disaster recovery setups.
- Familiarity with other databases such as PostgreSQL, EDB, or MS SQL is a plus.
- Understanding of MySQL/MariaDB limitations and their practical workarounds.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to contribute to architectural decisions.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24x7 database coverage.
- Highly coachable and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.
