About the Role
We are looking for a resourceful and independent Sales Executive to develop our tobacco flavour business in the Indian bidi market.
The successful candidate will be based in India for most of the year, travelling independently across tier-2 and tier-3 cities and rural manufacturing areas to visit bidi manufacturers, distributors, contractors and small-scale producers. Periodic travel to Singapore will be required for reporting, training and business reviews.
This is a frontline sales position suitable for someone who enjoys fieldwork, can work independently and is comfortable operating in less-developed locations.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and independently visit potential customers in the Indian bidi market.
Introduce the company’s tobacco flavour products, distribute samples and understand customers’ product requirements.
Build relationships with bidi manufacturers, intermediaries, Munshi and contractors to expand the customer network.
Follow up on sample testing, customer feedback, pricing discussions and business opportunities.
Maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers.
Collect market information, including competitor activities, pricing, customer demand and regulatory developments.
Prepare regular customer visit reports, sales updates and market reports for the Head of Sales.
Learn the company’s products, bidi industry practices and B2B field-sales techniques.
Requirements
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biology, Food Science, Physics or a related discipline.
Fresh graduates with strong learning ability, initiative and sales potential are welcome to apply.
Proficiency in Hindi is required for communicating with manufacturers, intermediaries and customers in India.
Good spoken and written English is required for business communication and reporting.
Conversational Mandarin is required for verbal communication with Mandarin-speaking regional management and technical teams. Chinese reading and writing skills are not required.
Able and willing to be based in India for most of the year and travel frequently to tier-2 and tier-3 cities and rural areas.
Able to work independently without day-to-day supervision and manage customer visits and travel schedules.
Resilient, adaptable, proactive and comfortable with local travel and basic living conditions in rural areas.
Comfortable working with customers in the tobacco industry.
